Betty Robertson

Robertson Robertson The woman who always had a kind smile is now smiling on us from Heaven.

Betty Jo Robertson, 74, from Brownsboro, Texas, passed away peacefully June 13, 2010.

Betty was born on Sept. 20, 1934, to her late parents, S.D. and Johnny Adams. Betty shared 49 years of marriage with her eternal love and best friend, the late Roy Robertson.

Betty led a full life and filled many others’ lives. She was known as a daughter, sister, wife, aunt and a friend to many. Betty leaves behind her greatest treasures, her children, firstborn son Bill Robertson and his wife, Barbara, of Richmond, Texas; her only daughter, Elizabeth Robertson of Brownsboro, Texas, and her youngest son Thomas Robertson and his wife, Lori Robertson, of Murchison, Texas.

She is survived by three sisters who shared a life of memories and love, Sandra Hughes and her husband, James Hughes of Brownsboro, Texas; Gwen Hill, wife of the late Jerry Hill of Brownsboro, Texas; June Dale Parrish and her husband, James Parrish of Moscow, Texas.

Betty and Roy are also survived by his sister, Dorothy Yura of Ben Wheeler, Texas, and brother-in-law, CN McLean of Brownsboro, Texas, husband of Roy’s sister, the late Linda McLean.

For years, Betty ran a day-care center in Brownsboro and touched many children’s lives. It was common for her to be recognized by many of her former “children” in and around town as Mrs. Betty or Aunt Betty.

She was known for making the perfect peanut butter and jelly sandwich that only she could make.

Betty loved sewing, painting and all arts and crafts. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Betty was a Christian and showed it by the love in her heart and the smile on her face.

Betty has many other relatives, including six grandchildren, Laura Beth Pleasant, Jamie Green, Daniel Robertson, Jake Harvey, Katie Robertson and Megan Robertson.

The family would like to thank the entire staff of the Hospice of East Texas, Trinity Mother Frances Hospital staff and the nurses of Chandler Nursing Center.

She will be remembered this Wednesday, June 16, 2010, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. during visitation at the Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home in Athens, Texas, and her funeral service will be Thursday, June 16, 2010, at 2 p.m., at Rock Hill Baptist Church in Brownsboro, Texas, with Rev. Joe Bob Hughes, Rev. Robert Welch and Rev. James Hughes offi ciating.

Burial will follow at Jennings Mountain Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Frank McLean, Jake Harvey, Daniel Robertson, James Lynn Yura, Johnny Yura, Greg Rawls and John Paul Boles.

Honorary pallbearers will be the men’s group at Rock Hill Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas Foundation, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, Texas 75701-6623.
